Partnerships

The RAISE research project is an international collaboration between researchers based in the UK and India, and Vidya Bhawan Society, an Indian non-government organisation based in Udaipur in Rajasthan.

Vidya Bhawan is an influential education-focused NGO in Rajasthan. It has been working since 1931 to provide quality education to children and youth from all sections of society. The organisation has extensive programming that includes schools, teacher educator programmes, technical colleges and development projects. As a leading NGO in India, Vidya Bhawan has longstanding and substantial school, research and civil society networks.

Empirical Research

The empirical research was carried out by a team of thirteen field researchers based in Patna (Bihar) and Udaipur (Rajasthan), the two study sites of the RAISE research project. The Senior Research Fellows, Mrs Preeti Misra (Udaipur) and Dr. Priyanka Saxena (Patna), co-ordinated the empirical research and field activities, under the overall guidance of the Principal and Co-Investigators.

Capacity building of the research team has been of key importance and embedded within the RAISE research project. Field visits, training programmes and workshops with researchers were carried out at regular intervals by the PI/Co-I team. The researchers were also mentored by one of the four PI/ Co-Is who regularly provided feedback and guidance on case studies, field notes and other outputs.
